This Day Goes To The US Women’s Soccer Team. This Will Be History.

I would love love love to congratulate the USA Women’s Soccer Team on winning today’s game against Brazil. That was by far the best soccer game, men or women, that I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Today will go down in history, I guarantee it. Hope Solo and Abby Wambach, there are no words that I can use. Solo proved to be the best keeper in the world and Wambach you proved that you can step up to the plate and lead your team at times when they need you most. I can honestly say that I am proud to be from this country and proud to be a soccer fan and player. The whole team never gave up (even though I might have a little) and played until the last minutes, literally. I was jumping, screaming, cheering, and crying all at the same time. Thank you for showing everyone why I love this sport.

I am soccer obsessed.

For those of you that did not watch the game, you need!

Here is the quick (not so quick) run down. In the first couple seconds of the game Brazil scored on themselves, giving us the lead. We finished the first held 1-0. Then the start of the second half came and Marta was fouled in the box, which left our player with a red card and Marta with a free penalty kick. She then shot and Hope Solo saved it, only to then get the save taken away because of encroachment (someone entered the box before the kick). Then she got another free kick..and made it..stupid. We played tied the whole game, with a player down due to the red card, until it went into extra time. In extra time Brazil scored again and now leading the game. It was not until two minutes left when Megan Rapinoe crossed a beautiful ball to Abby Wambach who headed it in..for the tie. The game then went into a shoot out and the USA Women’s Soccer team came out with the win after Hope Solo saved one goal, and every single player that took a shot made it. The perfect ending. I can not stop talking about this game, and every time I do I get goosebumps and want to cry. Purely magnificent.

The great header goal by Abby Wambach that tied up the game!

The save by Hope Solo to win the game.

You Can’t Teach Yourself Soccer.

For those of you who do not personally know me, or are not a common visitor to my blog, I am a college soccer player. Soccer is my life, it always has been. There is nothing like walking onto a field smelling that fresh cut grass, and having the lights shine overhead for a late night game. You then hear that whistle sound for the start of the match, your heart stops, and races, all in the same moment. Then you are immediately in the zone, and there is no one that can bring you down. That is something that never gets old, I crave for that rush every year, every season, every game.

Well, I just transferred to a new school, on behalf a of very long story. I will try to cut it short by just explaining that it did not work out, and I was promised a lot more than was ultimately given. This new school that I am attending, I love.

For the soccer aspect of things, it is a bittersweet awaiting feeling. You see, the school’s soccer record is not the greatest. In fact, it is quite awful. The catch is that we have a ton of talent on the team, but the problem was coaching. For some reason the school thought it would be a good idea to hire a coach that has never played a game of soccer before in their life. You could teach yourself the game, and work your way to the top, but you will never be successful unless you play. No one can understand how to react to a certain situation, unless you have truly played soccer with your heart and soul.

This year is a whole new year for me, as well as the rest of the team. We have a new coach, new team, new goals. I truly do believe we will have such a better season. Wish us luck!

On To The Next.

Its been a week practically since my first day here at my new university in Kentucky, and I absolutely love it. Let me break down the last seven days for you.

School started on Friday, (why it was a must to start on Friday, beats me). My first class ever at my new institution was canceled due to inclement weather, (I wrote about this about three or four posts ago). I then only had three more classes until my first full day was complete, well those three classes turned out to be two. One of my professors could not make it to class due to the weather, so my first day turned out to be wonderful.

The next day I moved in. My family drove down to help me bare the load that was ahead of my to trudge up three flights of stairs. The dorm room was greatly smaller than my previous one, and it felt like that nothing was going to fit. I ended up stacking my bed on cinder blocks, not just one, but three. My bed sat up high enough for me to fit my fridge, shelf, and other storage bins underneath it. Finally I had the space that I was needing. My roommate even loved how I had my bed that she did the same thing. Who would of ever though the usefulness of cinder blocks? Now my roommate and I pray every time we get in and out of bed that one of those cinder blocks don’t slide, God that would be the day.

Oh my roommate! For those of you that know me, one of my first words to her the first night I stayed there was, “Just so you know, I’m a creep, and I am just like the girl in the new upcoming movie Roommate. I might even already have your name as a tattoo.” Classic move by me. She is great! She plays volleyball here at the school, and helps manage the basketball team. Her boyfriend even goes to school back in my hometown, (small world right?).We get along perfectly so far. We watch the same shows, and share the same interests. We even found a great infatuation with Teen Mom and Wife Swap. I teach her to work out, since she does not exactly know what to do in the gym. She is great to be around, and she has been so great with helping me around campus and introducing me to new people. She has been the perfect roommate.

School for the most part is great, but I know that I am going to have my work cut out for me. I am taking Microeconomics, Art History, Environmental Science (with lab included), History of World Civilization, and Intro to Psychology. However, yet again today classes were canceled because of the snow. Oh, how I am loving the snow, because two of my classes got canceled due to it. I could get used to this, (even though I know Spring is right around the corner, let me live in the snowy moment).

Now for the people! Everyone at this school so far is wonderful. I love the new coach, I love the girls on the team, and I love everyone else. The people here in Kentucky are some of the sweetest people that I have ever come across. Everyone made this move prove to me that this was the right choice. They are so welcoming and I feel like I have gone here since the beginning. The girls on the team are wonderful, and I can already tell that I will fit in just fine. All of us are excited about the upcoming season, a new coach, new players, and a whole new attitude. I honestly can not wait until practice, which by the way starts tomorrow.

So as you can tell life is going great for me exceptionally well.
